The first yurt 1932, Fritz Stelzer (pauli)

The yurt is a Mongolian tent form and consists of a sloping roof with vertical side walls.

The basic yurt is built from 6 kohte panel (for the roof) and 12 Viereckzeltbahnen (square panels) as side walls. This tent allows 20 people to sit comfortably around a big, cosy campfire.

The yurt can also be connected with other yurts to build bigger constructions. Like combs in a beehive a nearly unlimited number of yurts can be joint together to put up a huge tent.

This original yurt can be put up in many ways and if you like to experiment you can vary the way you pitch your yurt. The most common designs we show you here, hoping this will encourage you to try out your own ideas.

A detailed list you can find in the Stücklisten.

Yurt

Jurte

The original size yurt consists of 6 kohte panels (for the roof) and 12 square panels (for the side walls). The diameter of this yurt is 6 mtr, hight of the side walls is 1,60 mtr and hight of the smoke hole is 2,5 mtr. The floor space of this yurt is about 29 m² and offers room for about 25 people.

The yurt's roof can be made of a roof tarp (with or without eaves) in one piece, of 2 half roof tarps or of 6 kohte panels.

Super-Yurt

Super-Jurte

The Super-Jurte has higher side walls. Hight of the side walls is 2,09 mtr and the floor space is about 29 m². The additional hight provides more options for using the yurt, especially if people inside are standing.

The same roof can be used for the Super-Jurte: 1 complete roof tarp (with or without eaves), 2 half roof tarps or 6 kohte panels.

Big yurt (8mtr yurt)

Großjurte

Diameter of the Großjurte is 8 mtr, the hight of side walls is 1,65 mtr and hight of the smoke hole is 3 mtr. The floor space is 50 m² an it provides room for up to 50 people.

The Großjurte (8mtr yurt) can only be set up with a Komplettdach (roof tarp in 1 piece). The use of 6 kohte panels is not possible.

Super-Großjurte

Super-Großjurte

The Super-Großjurte is a 8mtr yurt with taller side walls, hight of side walls is 2,09 mtr. The additional hight is an advantage if people inside the yurt are walking or standing.

Theater yurt

Theaterjurte oder Ovaljurte

The Theaterjurte is also called Ovaljurte. It is a modified Jurte or Super-Jurte with additional roof extension panels and side walls. In theory an unlimited number of tarps can be added. Most commonly used however are 1-3 extension panels. Each additional section adds 9 m² of floor space.

Barbarossa

Barbarossa-Jurte

The Barbarossa roof has a considerably steeper angle an a smaller smoke hole. Water is draining more easily from this roof and in combination with our recently new developed Trapezplane and a Volant you can turn a classic yurt into a genuine knight's tent.

Fünfer-Jurte

The Fünfer-Jurte is a mixture between a kohte and a yurt. It is built by connecting 5 kohtes or by using a special 5mtr roof tarp.
