A Convention (lat. convenire = get together, in short Con) is an event, where people with similar interests come together to meet more people who share their hobby. Some conventions are also selling related products. In this case normal products are on offer as well as specially developed things, sometimes created by fans especially for the convention. To distinguish a Convention from a Fair is not always possible. Often shows and competitions are part of a convention.

Eine Convention (von lateinisch convenire ‚zusammenkommen‘, meist auch nur Con genannt) ist eine Veranstaltung, auf der sich Menschen mit gleichartigen Interessen treffen, um andere Gleichgesinnte kennenzulernen, sich mit ihnen über ihr Hobby auszutauschen und diesem auch nachzugehen. Viele Conventions bieten auch Möglichkeiten zum Einkauf an Verkaufsständen. Dabei werden neben offiziellen Produkten oft auch inoffizielle oder von Fans eigens entwickelte Werke angeboten. Conventions sind mitunter zu einem wichtigen Teil der entsprechenden Szenen herangewachsen. Die Grenze zur Messe ist fließend.
